In a recent survey by iSearch, households were asked if it is true that taking oral medication with anything else than water will decrease its effectiveness?

The results indicated that 80% of the respondents chose ‘No idea’ when presented with the options:

Studies show that there is a high possibility of a chemical reaction especially between carbonated drinks and some oral medicines. The outcome of this chemical reaction can affect the potency of the drug.

  • Beverages like tea, chocolate drink and fruit juice can also be used for medicines that require that you have food in the stomach
