Former “old ladies” utility player Kwadwo Asamoah has become a talisman for his new side Inter Milan, after he made the move to gain more playing time.
Asamoah, who caught the eye of Luciano Spalletti during the transfer window has vowed to revive his career at Inter. Having won six Serie A titles and four Coppa Italia successfully with Juventus, the Ghanaian turned down a new contract, opting for greener pastures.
The nimble footed forward, turned left-back under former Chelsea coach Conte, took to twitter to announce his departure from the Turin giants and also thanked the fans for supporting him during his long-term injury. He stated:
“Even though Juventus offered me a new contract, I humbly and respectfully opted to commit myself elsewhere”.
“The unflinching emotional support I received from the fans, even in my worst injury times was so amazing that I feel deep love…”
The versatility of the player, since joining Spelletti’s side, has provided him with options as he has played both in the wings and in deeper roles. This has paid off as he has rewarded his summer team with two intricate assists, one giving Inter Milan three points against group rivals Tottenham Hostpurs in the UEFA Champions league. The win against Hotspurs has injected new energy into Asamoah’s new team after dropping earlier points in the league. Inter Milan lies 15th in Serie A League Log and will be traveling to Genoa to face 4thplace U.C Sampdoria on the September 22, September 2018.
