Shatta displays ‘Village Level’

The ‘My Level’ song by the self-acclaimed dancehall king is undoubtedly one of the best songs in Ghana  this year. In brief, the lyrics of the song (based on the chorus and title) seem to suggest, Shatta is saying he knows his level (high level) and is not perturbed about what others will say or the perception they have about him.

However, the much anticipated video has some unpardonable errors that one would not expect from a superstar like Shatta, who in recent times has described Ghana as a village. Shatta is one of the biggest artistes in Ghana and one would expect him to be the epitome of quality and standard in all spheres of the music industry.

Currently in Ghana, if any foreigner wants to judge how developed our music industry is, names like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy will definitely pop up.  So, producing a video that is below standard is something worth talking about. It is therefore prudent that we point out some of the careless mistakes made by Shatta in his video so that his subsequent videos do not contribute to the ‘villageness’ of Ghana.

The reason why Hollywood is so revered is because they consider the laws of Physics in their productions, and this makes their production believable and thought provoking. In the ‘My Level’ video, the scene shown in the picture above from the video is perfect, as it shows Shatta Wale hanging onto the balloons and the force of gravity pulling him down. However, Shatta and his crew totally forgot about the laws of physics and nature afterwards.

According to the laws of Physics, gravity will always act on any object within the earth’s atmosphere. That is to say, with Shatta gliding in the air, one will expect the force of gravity to be pulling Shatta to the surface of the earth. Thus, as Shatta is in the air and hanging on a balloon, one will expect that, the arm that Shatta is using to hold the balloon would be straight because of the weight of his body. However, as can be seen clearly in the picture above from the video, the posture of Shatta Wale’s arm does simulate someone who is flying or gliding in the air.

Again, with the height that Shatta ascended to in the video, one will expect some wind. However, the directors and Shatta did not factor in the wind in the atmosphere. This made the video look like some 1970’s Indian or Chinese Movie. At least, the team could have used some electric fun to give that illusion.

Again, Shatta did not go into the air with a champagne bottle but all of a sudden, a bottle of champagne appeared in Shatta’s hand. Shatta the magician ….. lol. The source of the champagne bottle should have been shown in the video.

Last but not least, the concept behind Shatta falling from the sky at the end of the video is absurd. It seems to suggest that Shatta will fall someday or when you get to know your level you will eventually fall. Anyway, I was expecting the Militants or the SM fans to catch Shatta Wale on the ground to show that the fans have got his back no matter what happens. Ahh well, maybe it was put in the video to give viewers some comic relief. If so, it was a big fiasco because there was nothing funny about it.

Feel free to share your thought on the video.
