Both alcohol and substance abuse are global problems affecting the human resource of every country (Karakas, 2006). An estimated 12 per cent of all drug users (over 29 million people) suffer from drug use disorders (UNODC, World Drug Report 2016). According to Dombeck (2008), the use substances such as alcohol, drugs and herbs, leads to changes in the physique and cognizance or awareness of individuals who use these substances, these changes are generally regarded as desirable by these individuals hence the abuse of these substances.
