In a recent survey by iSearch, households were asked if it is true that taking oral medication with anything else than water will decrease its effectiveness?

Studies show that there is a high possibility of a chemical reaction especially between carbonated drinks and some oral medicines. The outcome of this chemical reaction can affect the potency of the drug.

- Water should be the first choice and the water should be at room temperature
- Soup can also be used for medicines that require that you have food in the stomach
- Beverages like tea, chocolate drink and fruit juice can also be used for medicines that require that you have food in the stomach

- Alcoholic drinks
- Carbonated drinks
- Iced cold drinks
- Grape fruit juice
